Glitter Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 2, 2026

Glitter is made by one person, oclyke. It doesn't collect, transmit, or share any of your data. It contains no analytics, advertising, tracking, or third-party code, and it makes no network connections of its own.

Your photos

Glitter reads your Photos library on your Mac to find favorites that have settled past the window you chose. It copies the original files of those photos into the one folder you picked. It never edits, unfavorites, or deletes anything in Photos, and your photos are never uploaded or copied anywhere else.

If an original is stored only in iCloud, Photos downloads it to your Mac on Glitter's behalf, the same as when you export a photo yourself. That connection is made by Photos under your Apple account, not by Glitter.

The archive folder

Glitter is sandboxed by macOS. It can write only to the folder you chose in Settings, which it remembers as a security-scoped bookmark. It cannot see or touch any other folder on your Mac.

What's stored on your Mac

Glitter keeps its settings, the bookmark to your archive folder, and a history of what has been saved (dates and counts, derived from the filenames in the archive) in its own app container under ~/Library/Containers/dev.oclyke.Glitter. Like all app data, this is included in your Mac's backups. Deleting that folder removes it.

The nightly run

If you switch on the nightly run, Glitter registers a login item with macOS so it can wake at 3 a.m. and copy whatever has settled. It appears in System Settings under Login Items, where you can switch it off at any time. The nightly run does exactly what the Download button does, and nothing else.

Changes

If this ever changes, I'll update this page and the date above.
